Real buildings — drag to compare

15 years of real projects, in one program.

Designed, built and maintained by Biotonomy.

Case 01 · Hotel Mariposa, Málaga, Spain

30%

less energy used

A conventional hotel that soaked up heat all summer. Now more than 3,000 plants cover the facade, watered with the shower water from the rooms, and 100 m² of the city is alive again.

The hotel before, a bare dark facade The hotel after, the same facade covered in plants BeforeAfter

Case 02 · Málaga Tourism Office

30°C

cooler wall surface

A blank concrete wall that pushed heat back into the street. Now a vertical garden of more than 1,500 plants, and 40 m² of nature in the middle of the city.

Case 03 · Meliá Hotel, Málaga, Spain

Retrofit

on a finished building

Nothing was demolished. The living wall went onto a building that was already standing, in the middle of a working street. This is the normal case, not the exception.

Who you learn from

I was in your position 15 years ago.

Hi, I am Moein. Most people call me Moe.

I used to work on some of the biggest construction projects in the world. Every one of them was built the same way. Pipe the water in, pump the waste out, run the air conditioning all summer.

I wanted to build the opposite. Buildings that make their own water, handle their own waste and stay cool on their own. Nobody around me was doing that. In my office, in my whole city, I was the only one.

I had a good, well paid job and I was afraid to leave it, because I was not sure how I would actually learn to build green buildings. But something in me kept calling me to do it. So I left.

I started reaching out to people around the world who were already building differently. I travelled to more than twenty countries, learned a piece from each of them, put the pieces together and started building my own projects. Many of them began winning awards.

Then people started writing to me, asking if I could teach them how to do it. That is how the Academy started. What took me fifteen years to learn, I have built into a program so you can learn it much faster.

What you can do at the end

Water

Cut a water bill in half

Size a system that treats a building's own waste water and sends it back to the toilets and the garden.

Heat

Cool without electricity

Use shade, mass, wind and plants to hold a building steady, so the machines only handle what is left.

Living systems

Build a wall that lasts

Design a green facade that is still alive in year ten, and know why most of them die in year one.

Selling

Sell it to a client

Give a client the cost, the saving and the payback in months, in one sentence they can act on.

Some of the buildings we have delivered

Green buildings that handle their own water, temperature, energy and food.

An off-grid family home in Austria at dusk Wachsenberg, Austria

Off-grid family home

A stone and earth culture centre in Lebanon Chouf, Lebanon

Self-sufficient culture centre

Stone arches and earthen walls holding the temperature steady without machines.

A guest house lit up at night in a Japanese forest Tokushima, Japan

Autonomous guest house

A mountain house making its own energy, water and food, set into the forest.

Academy students

What people are saying.

Architects, engineers, and people with no construction background at all. In their own words.

I didn’t come from architecture or construction. I had an idea, but I didn’t know how to bring it to life or where to start. Today I’m developing my own project, a cemetery designed in harmony with nature. What started as an idea with no direction is now a real project moving forward.
Pernille Otzen Pernille OtzenFounder, ETERNA: Campo Santo
I always wanted to bring green buildings into my work, but I never knew where to start. The Academy broke it down step by step — the water, the plants, the cooling — until it made sense. Now I put it into my own projects with confidence, and I can explain to a client why it works. A transformative experience.
Omar Ali Omar AliArchitect
Their ability to simplify complex concepts and ground them in real, practical examples makes the learning stick. More than a course, this is a community which I am deeply grateful to be part of.
Nilam P. Nilam P.Envision sustainability professional
I thought green buildings were only for big budgets and specialists. They’re not. The Academy showed me how the water and the temperature are really handled, and it turned out to be far simpler than I expected. Life-changing, and forever grateful for their impact.
Nicolas Criticos Nicolas CriticosEngineer
Biotonomy Academy isn’t simply a course you complete. It’s an invitation into a worldwide community of people who believe we can build differently — by learning from nature, working together and creating places that give something back to the world around us.
Nadia Dinnery Nadia DinneryEnvironmental consultant
Participating in the Biotonomy Academy program was a true eye-opener. It enlightened my perspective on the vast possibilities we have to develop innovative solutions in the fields of architecture and engineering.
Romina Nebati Romina NebatiCivil engineer
I noticed most people treat greenery as pure decoration, without thinking that resources like water are limited and need to be managed. Biotonomy Academy showed me that water and vegetation can be part of a building’s actual structure, solving real problems of temperature and comfort.
Sandra Conde Sandra CondeArchitect
The Academy program provided a holistic approach to the solutions we need to integrate into our societies lifestyles.
Colin Meek Colin MeekEnergy consultant
Beyond all the knowledge and practical tools, it has given me hope, motivation, and the confidence to see that this kind of future is possible — and that I can be part of creating it.
Coloma Marquet Coloma MarquetBuilding designer
Water, energy, food production and living systems are addressed as elements that shape the building from the beginning, with direct consequences for performance and resource use.
Gabriela Fontanals Gabriela FontanalsArchitect and urban strategist
In addition to learning valuable knowledge about nature based solutions, you have access to a community of likeminded people and monthly Q&A sessions. I would highly recommend this course.

Still deciding

Questions people ask before they join.

What is the Biotonomy Online Academy?

The Biotonomy Academy is an online program where you learn how to master green buildings.

It is designed for construction professionals, academics and students, and anyone who wants to understand how buildings can work with nature. If you work with buildings or cities — or care about the future of how we build — this program is for you.

Once you join, you will have lifetime access to all materials, so you can learn at your own pace and revisit the content anytime.

How does the Academy work?

Once you join, you get full access to all the content from day one.

You follow a clear, step-by-step methodology to learn how to design with natural systems and apply it to real projects.

You can move at your own pace, join live sessions to ask questions, and be part of an international community.

What’s the difference between BASIC, ADVANCED and PRO?

All three options give you access to the core methodology of green buildings.

BASIC is for those who want to learn at their own pace and go through the content independently.

ADVANCED is the complete experience. It includes the full program, monthly live sessions, and access to a global community — ideal if you want to apply what you learn and grow faster.

PRO is designed for professionals ready for a real transformation. It includes everything in Advanced, plus a personal onboarding call with Moein, 1:1 guidance, project feedback, and a personalized implementation roadmap.

Most people choose ADVANCED, as it offers both flexibility and support.

Which option is right for me?

All three plans give you lifetime access to the full program, so you can always learn at your own pace. The difference is in how much personal access and guidance you get from Moein.

BASIC is for those who want the complete knowledge and prefer to learn independently, without live interaction.

ADVANCED is for those who want to go deeper — with monthly live sessions with Moein, a growing library of recorded Q&A sessions, and access to a global community of professionals building real projects right now.

PRO is for those who want direct, personal guidance from Moein — a private onboarding call, 1:1 sessions, project feedback, and a custom roadmap built around your specific work and goals

Do I need prior experience to join?

Absolutely not. The program is designed for all levels — from complete beginners to experienced professionals. Everything is taught step by step from the foundations up.

How much time do I need per week?

The Academy is designed to fit around your schedule.

Most students spend between 2 to 5 hours per week, but you can go faster or slower depending on your availability.

There are no deadlines, so you can learn at your own pace and adapt it to your work and projects.

Is the program online or on-site?

The Academy is fully online.

You can access all the content from anywhere and learn at your own pace.

We also offer optional in-person programs and site visits, with priority access for Advanced and Pro students.

Are there live Q&A sessions?

Yes.

We run monthly live sessions where you can ask questions, get guidance, and receive feedback on your ideas and projects.

These sessions are part of the Advanced and Pro experience.

All live sessions are recorded, so you can watch them anytime if you can’t attend live.

What will I be able to do after the Academy?

You’ll be able to design green buildings — working with water, climate, vegetation, and energy.

You’ll have a clear methodology to apply these principles to your own projects, whether you’re starting from scratch or improving existing designs.

Many students go on to work on real projects, collaborate with others in the field, or integrate these systems into their current practice.

You will also receive a certificate of completion that you can add to your CV and your LinkedIn Education section — strengthening your professional profile and opening doors to new opportunities in one of the fastest growing areas of the built environment.

The longer you wait, the more projects go past you.
